A HELPING HAND:
Monee Elementary student Thomas Tulp receives a visit from the Jesse White Tumblers in honor of his fundraising efforts on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Hospital
Monee Elementary 5th grader Thomas Tulp was just four years-old when he saw the commercials for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the fundraising began. He started with a peanut butter jar going door to door where he raised $130.34. Since then his fundraising events have included selling popcorn and tomatoes at the Monee village-wide garage sales, events at local restaurants, Windy City Thunderbolts baseball games and golf outings. He has also participated in the St. Jude Walk/Run events for the past 4 years. Thomas' grand fundraising total since he started is $18,613.43!
Recently, The Jesse White Tumblers came to perform at Monee Elementary in Thomas’ honor. Joined by CM 201-U Board President Mrs. Jennifer Gasbarro, Thomas and his fellow Monee students and staff were treated to an awesome acrobatic display by the world-renowned group.
For all his accomplishments, he has been on the radio with Trish Biondo of US99 three times, named WGN Kid of the Week in 2016 and 2017, Chicago area Volunteer of the Month of (August 2017) by St. Jude, and received a Veterans of Foreign Wars certificate from the commander of the Markham VFW in 2017. He will also be featured in the February issue of Modern Luxury Charity Datebook.
CM school community salutes Thomas for his amazing work on behalf of the brave young people at St. Jude Children’s Hospital!
