CMHS Students Participate in Annual Art Exhibit
The Art and Design Department of South Suburban College hosted the 17th annual SSC Regional High School Art Student Exhibit and Festival on February 24, 2012. The exhibition included 25 regional high school districts from Illinois and Indiana. Approximately 350 pieces of student artwork were on display in the galleries and display cases of the Art and Design Department at South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois. Eighteen Crete-Monee High School students had art work displayed ranging from 3-d sculptures in a variety of mediums to 2-d illustrations. Senior Rachel Stellfox won “Best in School” for her plaster cloth giraffe soccer shoe sculpture.
"The art staff at the high school is very proud of this talented group of artists. We are privileged to be invited to this prestigious show and honored to have such a fine group of students represent Crete-Monee in such a positive light," said Diane Stellfox, CMHS Art Teacher. "The students experienced new and exciting art techniques as well as having the opportunity to share their feelings about art to fellow students around the south suburbs. We know they are stronger artists due to this experience and hope they have gained inspiration and a stronger desire to continue creating."
