The Monee Education Center is the alternative learning environment for Crete-Monee School District 201-U. Programs housed at the center include the Crete-Monee Alternative Program (student behavior issues), Special Education Alternative program. The Monee Education Center takes pride in serving as a welcoming center for all students, meeting them where they are, and acculturating them to the CM201-U expectations for attendance, academics, and behavior.
Students are generally enrolled at the Monee Education Center for a semester or school year. The ultimate goal for each student is to transition back to their original school. In order to successfully complete the program students must have satisfactory academics, behavior, and attendance.
The key to the school’s success is founded in three essential beliefs:
- We believe that some students will function more effectively in a non-traditional highly structured academic setting, where the focus includes not only academic achievement, but also personal, social, vocational and emotional growth.
- We believe that fostering a supportive, nurturing, yet structured atmosphere enables students to become more confident in their abilities as learners.
- We believe that high expectations, motivation, and engagement coupled with mutual respect and dedication increases chances for success.
