Greetings Monee Education Center Family,

Welcome back to school!  I would like to take a moment and introduce myself as the new Program Coordinator at MEC. My name is Brian T. Wortel and I am very excited about joining such a wonderful team that has been lead by Mrs. Spence the last several years. Previously, I was the Special Education Coordinator for 7 years at CMHS and before that an Assistant Principal for an Alternative Program. My 17 year educational career has allowed me to work in a field that is both challenging and rewarding. I have found that student success was most often reached when there was a positive and collaborative approach between school staff and parents/guardians.

Mr. Schneider (Supervisor of Instruction) and I are looking forward to a year of learning, improvement and partnership.  Every staff member at the Monee Education Center is committed to helping each of our students succeed in school and shape their future.

Our goal for the 2014-2015 school year will be the continuing implementation of the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports).  Throughout the school year we will keep all stakeholders updated on how the program is being utilized to support our students.  We are looking forward to exploring this and other opportunities for motivating the students, maintaining that motivation, and pushing them to continually strive to do better.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Curriculum Night, Tuesday September 23rd 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm!

My office hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday thru Friday.  I am available to assist you so please do not hesitate to contact me at (708) 367-2662 or

We welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year at the Monee Education Center.  We hope to see and hear from you often.

Mr. Brian T. Wortel

Student Activities
All of the schools in the Crete-Monee School District provide activities for students that create opportunities for personal growth, academic development, creativity, and fun! Many student activities take place within the classroom and also after school. These may be in the form of classroom projects, extra-curricular clubs and activities, athletics, or family events. District 201-U offers students a wide range of activities to participate in that are guaranteed to provide a positive and rewarding experience for all.

Many of our schools have after-school clubs and activities that promote team work, self-discipline, goal setting, and responsibility. Throughout the year, the schools also host many family friendly events such as Literacy Night, family reading nights, seasonal parties, athletic nights, and more! These events are great ways to stay involved in your child’s educational experience.

Please visit the district’s online calendar to view upcoming events, activities, club meetings, and more!
