Effective for the 2013-2014 school year, the district will no longer generate parent email accounts through Microsoft for new families to the district. Email accounts will remain active for returning families that currently utilize district accounts for correspondence.
The decision to phase-out the creation of parent email accounts provided by the district is based on several factors. First and foremost, parental feedback has indicated that these accounts are not the most effective method for email communication. Many families have stated their preference to use their own personal or work-related email address for primary correspondence with the district. New families that do not currently have a personal or work-related email account are encouraged to create and utilize a free email account. Google, Yahoo, as well as other providers offer many options for the creation of free email accounts. Click here

In an effort to better communicate with families via email, parents/guardians now have the ability to update their primary and secondary email addresses via Skyward Family Access. It is no longer required to have the district generated email address as the primary email account. Account information can be updated at any time throughout the course of the school year by the primary guardian. Click here

It remains our priority to communicate with our families in a timely, relevant, and effective manner. I feel that it is extremely important to continually monitor and evaluate the methods used to communicate with our families and make adjustments as necessary. I hope that this change provides our families added flexibility and convenience in regards to email communication. If you have technical questions concerning your email account or Family Access usage, please contact the 201-U HelpDesk at (708) 367-2930.
